Ask your child...-To explain what Memorial Day is and how it started
-About seed structures and how that affects dispersal -To name some ways seeds are dispersed -What is pollination? -To name some pollinators -To name some habitats -About the habitat he/she is researching and about the pamphlet they are making -How to add 2-and-3 digits using the following strategies: *base 10 block drawings *break apart (adding by place value) *keeping one number whole and adding on in parts *number line *compensation (adding on to a number while taking away from the other addend to get to a friendly number to add: 128 + 233--> 130 + 231) *column addition (or standard algorithm) Please note, your child isn't expected to be 100% comfortable with each strategy. BUT...students should recognize there are many ways to add and be comfortable with 3 of the strategies. -How to subtract 2-and-3 digit numbers using the following strategies: *base 10 block drawings *keeping one number whole and subtracting in parts *number line (we haven't discussed compensation or standard algorithm yet, but those work too) -What animal he/she chose to research -Where he/she is in the research process (finishing note taking, beginning to turn notes into sentences, etc) -What he/she did in specials over the past week |
